Re: Best MVP cases by non-quarterbacks and running backs

Yeah. And, why does the QB have to only be MVP, especially in the last 20 years or so when it's gotten way easier to play the position because defenses have become neutered. If Cooper Kupp’s triple crown season couldn’t win MVP….. It didn’t, and the thing about most receivers is that when they put ...

Re: Super Bowl XIII and 1/2 (Wk#9: Pit 14, Dal 3; 10/28/79) revisited

OILERS 17, Jets 10
BUCS 3, Vikings 0
Browns 7, CARDS 6 (missed XP)

It's funny how those last three games listed were said to still be in the...FIRST quarter??
Part of that could have been two of those were in the central time zone and maybe they started those games at 1:00 local time back then.

Re: Dave Brown push starting

Very similar career as Riley. Caught a lot of interceptions but light on the honors. I always go back and forth on "compilers" like this. The stats are so gaudy simply because he played for so long. BUT... he actually played for that long! At a consistent level. 3 or more INTs in 9 of his ...

Without putting a lot of thought into this I think I would have all three '88 teams near the top of this list. Maybe top 3 overall? Hmmm

Re: Rodgers-Elway debate

I have an ongoing top 100 QBs of all time list that I update at the end of each season. I just went and checked where I had these guys since each side in the debate has valid argument.
Current ranking...
#10. Elway
#11. Rodgers

Re: 1988 Phoenix Cardinals and their 7-4 start

Lomax was one of my favorite players as a kid. He was great, but never really had the supporting cast to get to the Montana/Marino/Fouts/Moon/Kelly level of that era. I was able to pick up his autobiography at a WNYPFRA conference book exchange a few years ago.

Re: 1989 Vikings without Herschel Walker

Conversely, does another team panic trade for Herschel because Jimmy clearly wasn’t going to keep him beyond 1989 I think this is an interesting question from the original post. What RB needy team was going to pull the trigger on that blockbuster of a deal? And would that team be duped into the &qu...

Re: Devin Hester’s election - Did it water things down?

With Vinatieri making it as a kicker, it might be a very long time before another special teams player is elected.
I think there's still hope for Tasker someday.

Re: Research Help: Seeking Info on 1-point PAT Conversions by Run or Pass

I remember Steve Largent doing it twice in the 1980s, vs. the Falcons in 1985 and vs. the Bills in 1989. I was at the game against the Bills in the Kingdome. Was cool to see. I don't know why this sticks in my brain but to this day, this game remains the only one that I've ever bothered to predict ...
