Re: Where do you rank Patrick Mahomes in NFL QB history?

1) MONTANA/BRADY, take your pick 3) Graham 4a) Unitas 4b) Starr 6) Bradshaw 7) Mahomes if Patrick wins another Super Bowl, especially real soon, then he may very well immediately - as the confetti is falling - move to #5 with myself then debating if I 'dare' (sacrilege) actually go one-more and plac...

Re: NFL equivalents of “Celtics Shaq”

With ’71/’72 Cowboys and Dolphins being a new thread elsewhere, along with Super Bowl VI being mentioned in that, how about Herb Adderley - and Forrest Gregg - playing for Big D? Both being a member of that ’71 World Champion places those two in the same company with Thurston & Brady (if only Fu...

Re: The 1971/1972 Dolphins vs the 1971 Cowboys

Nice! Great, very fitting, Chess pic!

Should be a fun topic! I’m very surprised it hasn’t taken off yet!

Better unbeaten team? The 17-0 Dolphins? Or the 10-0 Cowboys (once the 4-3 start was out the way)?

Re: Where do you rank Patrick Mahomes in NFL QB history?

Most likely he was never ever going to ‘catch’ Brady before it was all said and done. Remember, Tom had not one - but two - Hall of Fame careers! If Patrick had a chance to still be in such running, he would have had to perform that three-peat. He failing to do so, especially with the way the Eagles...

Re: Ranking the Losing Super Bowl Starting Quarterbacks

‘Tarkenton vs Kelly’ is a good idea for a thread.

Who in here actually places them both above Marino if only because they both led their teams to four Super Bowls?

If we also include pre-SB (League Championship Games) in this, could YA Tittle be #1 in some peoples’ books?

Re: Would the Dallas Cowboys have defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in SB XVI?

Thank you. No sweat! And, belatedly, welcome aboard! Some solid posts from you already. Yeah, such a big list of previous threads to search through to see if a certain topic has already been posted. Dallas vs Cincinnati at Pontiac, 1/24/82? Still VERY torn on that one! I guess Big D would have been...

Re: Best team to not make the playoffs? 1967 Baltimore?

You can't necessarily call either a 10-3-1 team and especially a 8-4 team as 'best', but the '32 and '35 Packers should at least get mere mention. There should have never even been a 'playoff game' anyway in '32. The Pack should have, simply, been crowned the Champs! And in '35, again 'just' 8-4 but...

Re: Were the '87 49ers the BEST ONE-AND-DONE playoff team ever?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If Fran Tarkenton is on the Vikings his entire prime, then in 1970 they would’ve had a better chance than they ever did with him in reality. The Purple People Eaters were better in 69 and 70 than 73-77, and in 1970 specifically had they played Dallas, they...

Re: Would the Dallas Cowboys have defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in SB XVI?

In the 1981 NFC Championship game, the game known as The Catch, if not for one then-legal horse-collar tackle, how different would Cowboys quarterback Danny White's legacy be? Having brought them back in the last minute to reach the Super Bowl to face the Cincinnati Bengals, instead of being known ...

Re: Were the '87 49ers the BEST ONE-AND-DONE playoff team ever?

With a point differential of plus-192 (in a 14-game season) and one of the best defenses of all-time, the 1970 Vikings deserve mention. My issue with the 1987 49ers being included is their record and PD is inflated by the strike games. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If Fran Tarkenton is...
