Colts 33, Dolphins 8 - Indy the first team to score on every possession since 1978

Okay, so what team/game in Esteemed '78 did this happen? NFL Network said this. Thank you, in-advance, for the answer.

Not Dallas 38, Colts 0 in the MNF opener?

Re: The Greatest Opening Week Game Ever?

Aaron Rodgers picked apart the Jets defense yesterday. Not a great defensive game on either side but a revenge win and exciting finish. I need to see the replay of it. Had it on the TV in the break room at work yesterday but didn't get a chance to see too much of it. Got out late and made it into a...

Re: The Greatest Opening Week Game Ever?

Last night's Bills 41 Ravens 40 affair will sure be remembered! The ending a bit un-real like those very two divisional round Sunday games in 2021! The Ravens seemed like the more "Alpha" team throughout. Yet they find a way to lose anyway. And Buffalo, in allowing themselves to be down as...

Re: Bud Grant's Vikings VS Marv Levy's Bills

True, but the Bills were still a different team that late in the year at home. Aikman was a great player but never liked playing in the elements, even rain. A mental thing he didnt have to worry about due to playing mostly at home or a warmer site during postseason. I do know that Troy didn't have ...

Re: The Greatest Opening Week Game Ever?

More good responses!

Steelers at Dallas, MNF, 1982 is a candidate.

And how about Manning-vs-Manning 19 seasons ago?

But, so far, '76 Pit/Oak and '83 Dal/Wash are looking top-2 to me.

Best HC, '33-thru-'65, that didn't appear in a LCG?

Jock Sutherland?

Considering his small sample size, there would have to be a better candidate. Or maybe not.

Without actually rolling up my sleeves and taking a dive, no teams hence HCs come to mind in that era that had a nice-enough run of winning seasons/2nd-place finishes at best.

Re: The Greatest Opening Week Game Ever?

Nice responses so far! Yeah, I thought of Steelers/Raiders '76 as well, Wolf! That, I'd think, would be higher up than my mentioned Wash/Dal '83. Maybe, just maybe, its Number One! I guess my idea of credentials for a 'best' opening week game ever would not just be the game itself, but it being betw...

Re: Bud Grant's Vikings VS Marv Levy's Bills

The only head-to-head between both Grant and Levy, of course, was the KC@Min match in '81. Not only was it the season finale, but the Vikings very last game at the old Met before moving indoors the following season. Chiefs 10, Vikings 6. Both HCs could have also met in '78, Levy's KC debut, but did ...

The Greatest Opening Week Game Ever?

No 'top 10' or 'top 5'. No 'Rushmore' or 'Holy Trinity'. Simply, the very best game opening week? Pre-Super Bowl Era or since '66! Almost quarter to midnight on this first Sunday of 2025 - what just happened (first-ever 41-40 final) - inspires this, of course! A flicker of the Dal/Wash opener of '83...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

The Jags weren’t one of the best teams by the end of 96, they were just lucky They were because of the missed kick, but they were maturing late in the season. Once they got in, they were dangerous. They put a running game on the Bills like nobody did from 1990-93, and they knocked off the #1 seed B...
