Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?
What if a player is drafted and signed but never plays a down for the team? If he is injured or cut before he plays a down do you still consider him "on the team?" Does it matter (to you) if he did or didn't play in the preseason? I'm leaning towards considering a player officially "...

Re: Favorite one-year 1,000-yard rushers or receivers
Mike Furry, 2006, 1089 yards receiving with the Lions. He had played three years with the Rams, the first two as a receiver and in the third had moved to safety and started 11 games. Signed by the Lions for the next season, he moved back to receiver and finished second in the league in receptions.

Green Bay finished 8-7-1, after a 6-1 start. None of their wins came against opponents with winning records when they met.

Tom Brown, safety, Packers 1964-'68 and Washington for one game under Lombardi in '69. Brown started in three straight NFL championship games from 1965-67 and in Super Bowls I and II. The highlight of his career was a game-saving interception in the closing seconds of the Packers' 34-27 victory over...

Re: 2025 Obituaries
Bob Long, reciever for the Packers, Falcons and Redskins from 1964-‘70) died Sunday. Bob was a guest at the PRFA Meeting in Green Bay in 2016 (I believe Rick Schabowski drove him up from Milwaukee). They got there early Friday night and Bob grabbed a seat to listen to speakers (he was to speak with ...

Re: Elam Ending in the NFL
Probably because football is a game and not a Marvel movie. A stirring climax isn't built in, nor should it be. If one team has the game in hand in the fourth quarter, they've earned the right to put it in cruise control: empty the bench, give the backup QB some snaps, etc. I don't need an exciting...

Re: Sabbatical concept in NFL
Has anyone mentioned Bronko Nagurski? Then Bronko came to the U of Minnesota varsity-alumni game in 1959 at the age of 49 to punish the varesity defense on the opening drive. The equipment manager had no helmet large enough fro Nagurski, until he found an old leather one that he had to stretch to f...

Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame question
Why wasn’t the Pro Football Hall of Fame founded until 1963 The Pro Football Hall of Fame should have been founded earlier then we wouldn’t be talking about Lavvie Dilweg Verne Lewellen Ox Emerson Cecil Isbell and Al Wistert not being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Buddy Parker too But if they ha...

Re: Dave Volsky's YouTube channel
From the NFL's perspective, I suppose the difference between Rare Sports Films and Volsky is a matter of eyeballs. Doak is selling his merchandise onesey-twosey to a few hundred people whereas the YouTube channel is viewable by potentially millions. I've worked on a few docs, and I've been surprise...

Re: Another story that has been semi-debunked
Yeah, John wrote about this back in ‘17 … https://packerspastperfect.wordpress.com/2017/11/21/jim-ringo/ Somewhere - I think it was in an obit in the L.A. Times - there is a Ringo quote about being in PA at the time of the trade. This and the Forrest Gregg story are two stories that keep circulating...
