Re: More struggle-some, Belichick w Browns or he thus far post-Brady?

Those injuries to both QBs, Testeverde in 1999 and Bledsoe in 2001, set their careers back, though they both bounced back briefly. I was hoping Vinny would play well for the Cowboys in 2004 but he was basically a statue like Bledsoe by then. I truly did not remember him backing up Brady in NE in 20...

Re: Worst RBs/WRs with a 1000 yard season?

Quick math, diff between 1,000 yd season in 1959 and today: 1959: Need an average 83.3 YPG in 12-game season 2023: Need an average 58.8 YPG in 17-game season My Uncle Snuffy could probably run for 1,000 yds today (well, roll...he's in a wheelchair) Which is why you don't see a lot of names in this ...

Re: USFL, XFL are merging

George Allen suggested that the Bears establish a relationship with a minor league team when Allen was an assistant in Chicago. Allen suggested that the minor league team use offensive and defensive schemes suggested by the Bears and that the Bears help with filming and the like. Allen thought the ...

Re: Best all-time roster: Centers

Just came across this post, and I think the Raiders are a dark horse. In their first 35 years, they only had three starting centers. Jim Otto is on the short list of greats. Dave Dalby only made one Pro Bowl, but he was the center on all three of the Super Bowl winners. Don Mosebar made multiple Pro...

Re: Was Roy Green a two-way player in 1981?

Roy Green was a very good player on both sides of the ball. Sanders was a dynamite athlete, as were Bo Jackson and Brian Jordan who also played baseball. There have been a few guys in college lately that have done it - Hunter included. Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson both played on offense and def...

Re: Was Roy Green a two-way player in 1981?

Troy Brown occasionally played on defense for the Patriots in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he had 39 receptions and 3 interceptions. IBrown stepped in as a nickel DB in 2004, and that was the year he intercepted three passes. The Patriots had a slew of injuries at DB at midseason. Brown held up surprisi...

Re: Bill Brown: the Jim Marshall of RBs

Marshall is listed as a starter for all his games. Was this just a sham to keep his start streak going by the mid-70s, where he played the first snap and had very little part in the rest of the game anymore? Somebody once posted on here that Grant would start Marshall to keep his consecutive start ...

Re: Why did Sam Wyche fare so poorly in Tampa?

Unlike the Bengals, Wyche couldnt build an offensive line in TB. He didnt have any playmakers as well and Testeverde was terrible, lucky to have his career revived by the Browns, who would become the Ravens. I feel Marchibroda turned around his career. Wyche only had Testaverde for his first season...

Re: Worst RBs/WRs with a 1000 yard season?

Gaston Green comes to mind for Denver. 4 very nondescript years in the NFL where he wasn't much of a blip on the radar despite being a 1st rounder. I was never impressed with him. One thing I remember about that NFL draft was the top four RBs were Gaston Green, Brad Muster, Craig Heyward and Lorenz...

You'd think Gerhke would be a hot candidate for the PFRA's HOVG.
