Re: 30th anniversary of first WLAF games
What I liked about the WLAF was that the USA Network telecasts included an innovation that, unfortunately, didn't become a standard in pro football-- the helmet cam (usually on an offensive lineman) that gave the viewer a player's point of view as it happened. This was spectacular to see in 1991 on ...

Re: Giants Don Chandler 67-yard punt in 1958
John Grasso, author of the Historical Dictionary of Football, asked me to tell you that it was the November 16 game at Pittsburgh. At season's end, the Baltimore Evening Sun of December 17, 1958 listed it as the longest punt of the season. You can reach John at jgrasso@frontiernet.net

Re: Newspaper sites

Re: Playoff Bowl ('60-thru-'69) discussion
At one time there was a website that chronicled all ten Playoff Bowl games but I can't seem to find it anymore (MBolding I think). Sad when these resources disappear. I believe CBS televised all of these games, maybe someone can confirm that. In the opening minute or so of the 1966 Eagles highlight...

Re: The USFL's Philadelphia Stars
Someone may have already mentioned this, but many of the Philadelphia Stars came back on the field for three weeks as replacement players during the 1987 NFL strike. Coach Mora was guiding the New Orleans Saints, and temporarily hired players that he remembered from his Philadelphia and Baltimore da...

Re: Podcast
Congratulations! Responding to Ryan, I know that a PFRA podcast has been discussed since 2008, but a regular podcast is one of those things that requires no small commitment of spare time.
