1990 AFC Wild Card field

How was Houston the final wild card team over Seattle in 1990 when they each had 9-7 records and Seattle beat Houston head-to-head?

Houston was 8-4 in AFC games and Seattle was 7-5, but wouldn't the head-to-head tiebreaker come first?

Re: 1997 NFL season discussion

After going eight years without a tie, we were treated (tortured?) to two ties in consecutive weeks: Eagles-Ravens in Week 12 and Giants-Redskins in Week 13.

Eagles-Bears 1970 in Evanston

The Bears played their 1970 home opener at Northwestern with the possibility that Wrigley Field would be in use for playoff baseball, which would have delayed the installation of the football bleachers. The reaction among Evanstonians was mixed according to a Chicago Tribune article that July: “We d...

Re: "Name the Game" trivia

You guys are on another stratosphere compared to me, but I'll give this a shot (selected this game randomly off of Pro Football Reference): -This game was played on Halloween -At a stadium better known for baseball, but which had its fair share of great football -It was one of only three times that ...

Re: Biggest almost-comeback

The Saints almost blew a 45-10 lead against the Lions on 10/15/2017. Detroit scored four straight touchdowns to make it a seven-point game, but Cam Jordan picked off Stafford in the end zone shortly after that to extend New Orleans' lead to 52-38.

Re: Unluckiest single-season teams

2001 Carolina Panthers went 1-15, but they could have been much better if not for these: -Week 5 vs Saints: overcame 17-0 deficit to take 25-20 lead, Ricky Williams scores on the last play of the game, Saints win 27-25 -Week 6 @ Redskins: led 14-0 in fourth quarter, gave up two late touchdowns, lost...
