Books on Jerry Jones?

There seem to be a few but, frankly, I don't know if they're any good. Does anybody have any recommendations on books about Jerry Jones, warts and all? Not a Jones-sanctioned puff piece. Jeff Pearlman's book on the '90s Cowboys is pretty great and covers Jones's background, but I wasn't sure if a go...

Re: Your Favorite NFL Announcers

I grew up on the ‘90s Packers, so any game called by John Madden and Pat Summerall felt special to me. Madden was such a fan of Brett Favre and Lambeau Field, so that helped endear him to me, but really in any game those two were perfect. Madden loved the history of the game, and he taught viewers a...

Re: Teams that couldn’t win in certain places

The Packers were 2-11 all-time at Texas Stadium, including an 0-9 record with Brett Favre at QB.

Funny enough, the Packers are 6-0 at AT&T Stadium, including Super Bowl XLV.

Re: Evolution of the NFL Shield

I've seen so many conflicting dates on this that I wonder if anyone has really dug into this topic to find the answer... The evolution of the NFL shield logo. Major changes appeared to have occurred in both the early 1960's and early 1980's, with the current logo coming about in 2008. The previous ...

Re: Evolution of the NFL Shield

This is where it started. Leo Lyons' hand-drawn concept of the NFL logo, 1922. He wanted "Major League Football," but the concept was there, based on the shield from Jim Thorpe's Olympic uniform. 028 - nflemblem 1922.jpg That's incredible, thank you for sharing! "Major League Footbal...

Re: The 1999 Cleveland Expansion Team

I can't imagine being a lifelong Browns fan and seeing the decades-long run of success that the Ravens have had, knowing that should be *my* team. Here's the real question: if the team had not moved, would they have won the Super Bowl as the Cleveland Browns in 2000 and 2012? Is there anything about...

Can't miss, definitive seasons of each decade

Looking back on the 2000s, '90s, '80s, '70s, and so on, which seasons would you rank as the can't miss, definitive season of each decade? A season that was equal parts memorable on its own, while also playing a big part in defining the decade it was a part of. Two seasons instantly come to mind for ...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

Oh boy. Quarterbacked by the back-to-back league MVP. Offense scored the most points in the league. Defense surrendered the least amount of points in the league. Top-ranked defense in the league. Special teams had six return TDs including playoffs. That '96 team was lethal. The '97 Packers, on the ...
