Re: The Screwy Way the NFL Counts Tackles
I'm reviving this thread because I recently went down the rabbit hole of trying to understand how muffs/fumbles and solo/assisted tackles are scored. Let's start with tackles since that's what this thread is about. You know how gamebooks have TKL, AST, and COMB listed under defensive statistics? Up ...

Re: Will Now Be The Time For Jim Tyrer?
Look at Darren Sharper. He is probably a borderline HOF candidate but once he was found guilty of despicable acts, his name totally dropped off the HOF radar. Nobody is being removed from the HOF but people found guilty of heinous actions can be kept out. My comment is not for or against Tyrer. I a...

Re: Will Now Be The Time For Jim Tyrer?
Whats your take on Ray Lewis, SixtiesFan? Do you feel he should have been elected to the HOF? I felt--and still feel--he was an accomplice to murder but got full legal representation and private investigators from the Ravens. His buddies got away with it in self defense but do we really know what h...

Re: what college QBs did you consider "can't miss" prospects over the years?
Brian Brohm. When he was drafted us Packers fans thought that Brohm might be the better option at QB over Aaron Rodgers. His training camp performance quickly killed that thought.

Thoughts on Dave Brown?
The CB, not the QB. He was before my time, but Dave Brown put up impressive numbers even into his late-30s. A Seahawk for the majority of his career before finishing with the Packers, he's currently tied for 10th all-time in career interceptions. It's surprising to me that he only made one Pro Bowl ...

When did the '85 Bears "begin" and "end"?
How would you identify the Bears' championship window of the '80s? Having experienced the Packers of the '90s, it's pretty clear that their rise was kicked off with the arrival of Wolf, Holmgren, and Favre in '92. They won their one Super Bowl, and their window closed after Holmgren left and Reggie ...

The Legend of Brett Favre
I've been thinking about hero worship of professional athletes and what drives it. As a Wisconsinite, I can say Wisconsin fans have always loved their athletes, but I can think of no larger love affair than the one Packers fans had with Brett Favre. Obviously he's had (and has) off-the-field issues,...
