Cleveland Indians/Bulldogs 1923-1927
Passing along a request from a fellow researcher: does anyone know who all the investors were for this team? My colleague is trying to determine if someone named Max Rosenblum was one of the owners along with Sam Deutsch. That’s a long ways back, obviously and there weren’t a lot of great resources ...

Re: Dave Volsky's YouTube channel
For the record, I do not create media or artistic works myself, but if I did, I would be stricter with the copyrights on the pieces of media that are perceived to have more commercial viability than those that don’t. Ex: if I were the NFL, I would be more likely to go after people who are uploading...

Re: Dave Volsky's YouTube channel
It is possible to hold both of these thoughts in your mind at the same time: that copyright laws exist to protect people who create things, and that seeing restored (in fact, better) versions of classic games was wonderful and a great way to bring history to those who have no idea about it. Dave did...

Re: Another story that has been semi-debunked
One tidbit that wasn't in the book: Joe Horrigan asked Daly where they found the evidence that the streak was bogus. When Daly told him "Your library," Horrigan was shocked. Horrigan also wrote in his 100th anniversary book that the Jets outbid the Chicago Cardinals for Joe Namath, and th...

Re: NFL Defenses of 1977
Most sports seem to find that, left to their own devices, their teams will discover it is easier to destroy than to create. Defense will eventually gain the upper hand, and people don't pay to see that. So the leagues re-calibrate. As someone said upthread, it didn't just happen randomly in 1977 - i...

Re: 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers discussion
Some Packers fans I have chatted with, believe the 2020/21 NFC Championship game was "rigged". Because believing that Aaron Rodgers avoided running to the goal line like there was a family member standing there and that the Packers just lost would be too hard, yeah? Best team money could ...

Luckily, I had previously downloaded most of the guides there. Because you never know.

Re: Least favorite season your team had?
It's easy to say the 0-14 season of 1976, but, honestly, they were going to be terrible (and were unlucky not to win three games). The 1977 team was actually harder to watch, despite the two wins. Gotta go with 1985. They'd been in the playoffs three times in four years from 1979-82, regressed might...

Re: A minor league Lombardi
A Sept. 26, 1974 Flint Journal article notes the then-34-year-old Kauffman was "born and reared in Lancaster, Pa., a hotbed of high school and collegiate grid talent. Kauffman excelled as a prep player at McCaskey High School." He joined the Marines out of high school, went to Michigan Sta...
