Re: 1895 Shepardsville, MI Football Club
I think when we take a step back and look at everything at once, it's pretty clear that the Ohio River Basin is the birthplace (maybe "cradle" is a better term) of professional football. Most of early pro football of any significance was played on the north side of the river within that ba...

Re: 1895 Shepardsville, MI Football Club
I reached out to Alan March who is the great-grandson of Dr. Harry A March, author of the very first pro football history - Pro football, its "Ups" and "Downs": A light-hearted history of the post graduate game . He had this to say: In the context of the pre-NFL era, it seems th...

As I type this, they are doing a water balloon toss.
Why can't they at least have athletic competitions like they did on the Superstars series?
It's not about the fans anymore. Or at least not old fans like me.

Re: False starts
Have you guys noticed that the officials never measure for close first downs? The coaches never demand a measurement and the officials seem to follow the tv lines--which are supposed to be unofficial-- as if they are law ? ... I blame the coaches for not demanding measurements ... They have had RFI...

Re: Bills-Bengals "no contest" part II
One explanation I don't hear talked about as a possible explanation for the delay in between deciding the game will not be resumed and the actual announcement is that to ensure the ambulance made it out of the stadium and well on its way to the hospital. I don't know the exact footprint of Paycor S...

Bills-Bengals "no contest" part II
After listening to other opinions about the situation, I will say that I was wrong about thinking the Bills' players were being selfish for not finishing the game that night. I believe the players needed a break to process things, and in the aftermath, I think the Bills organization has handled the ...

Re: Bills-Bengals game “no contest”
From RULE 17 - EMERGENCIES, UNFAIR ACTS in the OFFICIAL PLAYING RULES OF THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE ARTICLE 4. EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. The NFL affirms the position that in most circumstances all regular-season and postseason games should be played to their conclusion. If, in the opinion of appropria...

Re: Including postseason stats in career stats
For clarity, you would need to mention that the statistics include postseason play, but I'm entirely on board. I see including postseason play in the same category as recognizing longevity as a virtue when considering whether a player should be recognized for some honor. My goodness, if a player sta...

Re: Bills-Bengals game “no contest”
What about the people who attended the Monday night game? Do they get their money back? The players are now so flush with money that they didn’t even consider that they had a responsibility to the spectators who paid to watch, the broadcasters who paid to air the game, and to the whole economic eco...
