Re: Something dumb that you remember about watching the NFL

Times do change. Just about any group name can be considered offensive. All depends on how one wants to take it in context. Cowhands was the name for those who tended cattle. Cowboys was originally used in a derogatory name. Redskins referred to the red war paint. A Blackfeet warrior draws a pictur...

Re: Something dumb that you remember about watching the NFL

QBs in away stadiums pleading with the ref that they "couldn't hear" due to crowd noise, and the ref stopping the play clock.

No sick/dying kids announcing the picks? How refreshing.

Re: 1986 Cowboys vs 1986 Raiders

Like every other team, he tried to obtain as many talented players from Florida schools as he could find, even when they faltered for other pro teams. He let go of Everson Walls because he felt he didnt have enough of a competitive nature or hatred for losing at that stage of his career. Walls seem...

Re: LUCKIEST single-season teams?

Love my '77 Cowboys, but they didn't exactly have to overcome a murderer's row of QBs in the post-season (Avellini, Lee, Morton). Though 78 lost the Super Bowl, was their set of opposing playoff quarterbacks better? Also how about 71? At least they faced a future HOFer in both of those Super Bowls.

Marc Spindler dropped in the 1990 draft. I think they had a TV crew at his home, too, which made it more agonizing.

Re: 3 Most Perplexing Losses By Your Fav Team (60s, 70s, 80s)

The Cowboys losses to the Browns in the 1968 and 1969 were always perplexing to me. But Blanton Collier was a terrific coach. 1966 @ Eagles: Tim Brown had two long kickoff returns for touchdowns in a 24-23 defeat. 1975 Green Bay: inexplicably lost at home to a terrible Packer team. 1984 @ Bills: Bi...

Re: New Orleans Saints and NASA 1972-76

How insane is it that New Orleans hasn't drafted a QB in the first round since 1971 (Manning)?
