Re: The greatest AFL game ever played?
Interesting story regarding the Heidi game. Joe Namath was seated on a plane preparing for takeoff. A woman passenger asked the flight attendant if Namath was seated in the front and asked if she could introduce herself to him. Receiving two affirmatives, the woman introduced herself to Namath and ...

Re: Super Bowl 0 - What if?
Instead of comparing AFL teams with the NFL champions, a more valid exercise is to evaluate them against the Cowboys (created the same year as the AFL) and the Vikings (created one year later). How much success would those teams have experienced if they had been in the AFL instead of the NFL? The Co...

The 2010 Packers was one of two teams since 1960 that was never behind by more than 7 points during the entire season. They were formidable once they got healthy.

Re: Aaron Rodgers
In addition to everything else stated about Holmgren's departure from Green Bay, he was also anxious to return to the west coast and closer to his Bay Area roots. IMO, his qualifications for the HOF fall short if you only consider his accomplishments as a head coach. Which begs the question - can so...

Re: Alex Smith
A decision on his HOVG worthiness is at least 25 years away. Who knows what the game will look like then. I tend to agree his qualifications probably fall short. Having said that, Alex is one of my all-time favorite people who happened to play professional football. His personal conduct in San Franc...

Re: Aaron Rodgers
Ah, okay...the salary cap....that's good info....I first thought that if there was going to be a trade to Denver it would happen before the Broncos made their first pick and Green Bay would end up with that pick as part of the deal.... As for McCarthy being fired after two losing seasons -- If I re...

Re: Most-dominant post-season by a team?
I realize the 2005 Patriots won't qualify because of their narrow Super Bowl victory against Philadelphia. However, on consecutive weekends, they held the highest scoring team in the league (Indianapolis - 522) to three points and hung 41 on the 15-1 Steelers who led the league in scoring defense (2...
